DAY 6 – Behind the Wall

We were shown these photographs of 2 young girls as we met with 2 very remarkable men who were the fathers of the girls. One had been an Israeli soldier and the other a Palestinian who had been imprisoned for 7 years. They were most unlikely friends. While they had great banter and joked and laughed together they also spoke of how their daughters had been killed in tragic actions in the conflict. Their grief is enormous but they look to use their pain in a very different way – building friendship between Israeli and Palestinian as part of Parents’ Circle Family Forum which is now a movement of 620 families. They look to put cracks in the walls which divide and allow some light to shine through by speaking in schools and many other places in Israel and beyond.
